Tunisian Crochet Workshop: The Westmont Shawl

Join us for a relaxing and beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet project: the beautiful Westmont Shawl by Toni Lipsey. This meditative triangle wrap features alternating sections of classic Tunisian stitches, creating subtle texture and a modern, wearable finish.

Designed with simplicity in mind, this shawl is perfect for those new to Tunisian crochet or anyone looking to build confidence with fingering weight yarn. The pattern walks you through essential stitches like the Tunisian simple stitch, knit stitch, and reverse stitch, along with basic shaping techniques. 

Students will learn:

• Foundations of Tunisian crochet
• Stitch variations and texture building
• Increasing for triangle shaping
• Finishing techniques for a polished shawl

Finished shawl measures approximately 60" wingspan x 24" depth and is easily adjustable to your preferred size. 

This class is perfect for beginners who are comfortable with basic Tunisian crochet stitches and are ready to take on a wearable, rewarding project. Come create with us and leave with a beautiful handmade shawl you’ll be proud to wear!

Skill Level: Beginner (you should have taken the Beginner Tunisian Crochet Class or have basic familiarity with Tunisian Crochet). 

Materials Needed:

• Fingering weight yarn (approx. 850–875 yards)
• 5mm Tunisian crochet hook with cable
• Scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers
• Westmont Shawl pattern by Toni Lipsey (Available online or via Ravelry)

Class Policy

• Supplies are separate from class fees.  Participants will be given 10% off supplies needed for the class. Please purchase yarn ahead of class and have it wound before start. 
• If you need to cancel your spot in the class we are happy to offer a 50% store credit refund for cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance. Unfortunately, we cannot offer store credit refunds for cancellations made less than 48hrs in advance. Email corinne@theknittinglounge.com for cancellations.
• Please be on time as the teacher will start promptly.
• This workshop is intended for up to 6 participants. We value and respect all learning styles and do our best to support each student in a group setting. However, we recognize that this environment may not be the best fit for everyone. If you feel you would benefit from more individualized attention, we encourage you to inquire about private lessons.
• There must be three participants for the class to proceed. Class will either be rescheduled or cancelled if under three sign ups.
